Our therapeutic approach: Interdisciplinary, individual, holistic

In our practice, we pursue an interdisciplinary approach that combines various medical and therapeutic disciplines. The combination of modern pain management, physiotherapy, psychology, and complementary therapies such as occupational therapy or relaxation techniques enables comprehensive and sustainable treatment. We understand that every person and every pain is unique. Therefore, we work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to your personal needs and life circumstances.

How does chronic pain develop?

Chronic pain is often far more than just a physical symptom or a direct consequence of an injury. It frequently arises from a complex interplay of various factors and can severely impact the daily lives of those affected. Triggers include prolonged physical strain, chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatism, or herniated discs, as well as injuries and surgeries. In many cases, this leads to the development of what is known as pain memory: The nervous system and brain become increasingly sensitive to pain stimuli and send pain signals, even when the original cause has already healed or is no longer present. As a result, pain can persist for months or years – often without a clear, physically identifiable cause.

Another important aspect is that chronic pain should not be viewed in isolation. It affects not only the body, but also the mind and social life. Many sufferers experience persistent stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, or depressive moods. These psychological factors can further intensify pain perception and lead to a vicious cycle: those who constantly suffer from pain often feel helpless, withdraw socially, and experience a diminished enjoyment of life. Stress, worries about one's own health, or the fear of worsening symptoms frequently lead to pain being perceived as even more intense.

Therefore, it is particularly important to consider chronic pain holistically and to take both physical and psychological aspects into account in therapy. Successful pain therapy addresses several points: In addition to medication and targeted physiotherapy, psychological support, relaxation techniques, and promoting self-activity play a crucial role. The goal is not only to alleviate pain but also to improve coping mechanisms and sustainably increase quality of life.

A particular focus of modern pain medicine lies in the specialized care of patients with cancer and tumor pain. Tumor pain can be triggered both by the disease itself and by cancer treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. It is among the most distressing symptoms for cancer patients and requires individually tailored, interdisciplinary treatment. In addition to conventional pain medication, special procedures such as nerve blocks, infusion or pump therapies, as well as supportive psychological and palliative care services are often employed. Our goal is to effectively alleviate pain, reduce anxiety, and maintain the best possible quality of life, even during difficult phases of illness.
