Travel medicine
Travel safely: Our expertise in travel and tropical medicine
Travel medicine deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses that can occur in connection with travel. This involves not only standard vaccinations but also a holistic approach: We analyze your personal health profile in relation to your destination, the local climate, and the prevalence of infections.
We offer you and your family personalized medical advice on health risks and preventative measures, especially for long-distance travel. As experts in tropical and travel medicine, you benefit from our many years of experience in preventative care as well as our own extensive travel experiences. Our goal is for you to enjoy your vacation without worry and return home healthy.
A particular focus of our practice is authorized yellow fever vaccination. Since this vaccination may only be administered by officially approved yellow fever vaccination centers, we are your qualified contact for travel to corresponding risk areas in Africa or South America. In addition to vaccination, we offer comprehensive advice on malaria prophylaxis, insect protection, and travel medicine kits.
It is important that you register well in advance of your departure. Generally, 4-6 weeks before your trip is advisable – but earlier is even better to ensure you have full vaccination coverage!
How much does a travel medicine consultation cost?
We calculate the cost of a travel medicine consultation transparently based on the German fee schedule for physicians (GOÄ). Depending on the time required and the complexity of your travel itinerary, the cost for this comprehensive consultation is generally around 40 to 50 euros. Please note that additional services such as vaccinations or travel certificates are billed separately according to the GOÄ.
What are typical travel-related illnesses?
Typical travel-related illnesses include gastrointestinal infections such as traveler's diarrhea, often caused by contaminated water or food. Insect-borne infections like malaria, dengue fever, and, in certain regions, yellow fever are also common, and we can provide targeted advice and vaccinations against these diseases. Climate-related stress, altitude sickness, and respiratory infections are also among the conditions we address, and we will comprehensively prepare you for these in our travel medicine consultation.
