G35 Examinations for stays abroad as part of voluntary service
For many years, young adults have been involved in a wide variety of volunteer programs, including the well-known "weltwärts" program. These programs often take place in developing countries located in tropical or subtropical regions. The participants' motivations are diverse: in addition to the desire to help others and experience new cultures, personal development is often a primary focus. The experiences gained during such a stay abroad usually have a lasting impact on the participants and foster intercultural competence as well as social responsibility.
To protect the health of volunteers, many sending organizations require a comprehensive health check-up. This is conducted in accordance with legal regulations for employees and is based on the G35 recommendations of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) for work-related stays abroad. The examination includes, among other things, a detailed medical history, a physical examination, and advice on vaccinations and potential health risks in the host country. The costs for these examinations are generally covered by the sending organizations within a defined framework. It is advisable to obtain detailed information beforehand and to bring all relevant documents to the appointment.
Our institution has many years of experience in examining participants in the weltwärts volunteer service program and volunteer helpers, particularly within the German Red Cross. Since 2006, as part of our volunteer work, we have been conducting medical examinations and vaccinations for more than 200 active volunteers in the Frankfurt am Main district of the German Red Cross. We place great emphasis on individual consultation and thorough medical care.
After your return from abroad, we will of course remain available to you. As part of your pre-travel medical examination, we will check your health and advise you on any complaints or health problems that may be related to your stay abroad. This ensures that you receive optimal care after your return and that any health problems can be detected and treated early.
Please note that this offer is not suitable for German employees according to ArbmedVV.
